Why Settle for Metal & American Red Cross Case Study

PCH Housing Family

Why Settle For Metal? Discover the Smarter Housing Solution!

When it comes to protecting your valuable equipment, the housings you choose matter. Our PCH series Polycarbonate Housings offer everything metal housings do — and more:

  • Lightweight & Easy to Handle: Polycarbonate is significantly lighter than metal and polycarbonate is easier to customize using standard hand tools making installation a breeze.

  • Wireless Friendly: Will never impact the performance of any RFID devices (prox or AVI readers, wireless data transmission devices, Bluetooth devices) - Metal causes RF fields to collapse into themselves compromising data transmission and reducing the read range.

  • UV 103 stabilized - Housing body will not fade over time in sunlight (carbon black in our plastic resins) - perfect for indoor or outdoor environments.

  • No Corrosion - Polycarbonate, unlike metal, does not corrode. Our locks are cast zinc wrapped w/stainless steel cover.

Case Study: American Red Cross

PCH196 Card Reader Housing with HID Maxi Prox

We received an inquiry from the Red Cross concerning poor read range they were getting from the Prox Reader at the main entrance of their facility in Wichita, KS. After verifying that the correct voltage was being applied to the reader, we had to assume that the current metal housing in use was the cause of their issue. Replacing the metal housing with one of our PCH196 Polycarbonate Housings was the correct solution, as you can see from the feedback provided. Just one of the many ways that our Injection Molded Polycarbonate Housings are superior to metal housings!

The installation (PCH196 Housing) went very well - It alleviated the interference that was happening caused by the installed metal housing. It did exactly as you stated it would. I have already spoken to a few security vendors that I've used in the past about your products and website. If the need arises for me to once again get a housing like this, I will definitely have my vendor order from The Housing Company. Thank you again for the kind donation that allowed me to get the project completed in a timely manner.
